Hope for Haiti is not a non-profit organization. We are not tax exempt, and any/all donations are not tax decutible. I am simply a stay at home mom who has started this website to raise money for the red cross and compassion.com All money donated is being collected in my personal paypal accoutn, where I will then turn around and donate to these two wonderful organizations. I have no proof to offer any donors that I will be donating this money other than my word and my reputation as a blogging business owner. I can offer proof of donations after I have done so, and plan on doing just that.
I have encountered some obstacles through paypal and google as far as blurring the lines between business and non-profit, and I need to be clear that this is neither. It is simply a goodwill gesure.
If you are interesting in donating money to Hope for Haiti - please be reassured that any money donated will be given to The Red Cross and to http://www.compassion.com/. You can also go directly to either of those websites and donate your time or money there.
If you are interested in donating products or services for a raffle, please be reassured, I will take care of everything for you - just contact Jenny by emailing jenny@simplydelightfuldesigns.com and let me know what you would like to donate with a description and a picture if possible. All proceeds from any and all raffles will be divided in half and given to The Red Cross and to Compassion.com. If you are donating an item that requires shipping, you will be responsible for the cost of shipping, but I will make sure to provide you with the winners address. When your raffle comes to an end, I will notify you and the winner and then the two of you will take over communication from there. If you are donating services, please be as specific as possible as to what you are including in your prize.
***updated Thursday January 14th - To read more about me and who I am, you can visit my about me page on my blog. My name is Jenny Buttler, I am a stay at home mother of three beautiful children. All I have to reassure you that this money will be donated is my word. My word and a firm working relationship with many of the donors represented who have trusted me enough to use their well known blogging names to do far more than I EVER could on my own!
I am planning on ending all raffles no later than February 13th. Some donors have requested that their raffle end a little earlier. I am also staggering some of them so that when they come to an end, the selection and announcement of winners remains managable. All money is collected through paypal, and when all raffles are over, I will produce screenshots and receipts on monies donated. It's all I can think of to produce some type of proof that I am not trying to scam anyone.
I have a heart for missions and outreach. Two years ago, I went on a mission trip to Kazakhstan with a group of people from Hadassah's Hope. Please watch the video and I hope it inspires you to donate!

Money donated to Compassion will only help children and their families who are already in Compassion programs. See their website about this. World Vision might be a better organization to donate to - they do not limit who can benefit from their assistance.
ReplyDeleteMy heart sank over this sad news. I cried and everyday I realize how bless we are right now. I picked up the button for Hope for Haiti. Thank you for posting this blog.
ReplyDeleteDid you want our blog button if we donated money or donated a prize? I donated $ and placed one of the Hope for Haiti buttons on my website.

I don't think that Compassion.org link is right? You should check it out- its not Compassion.com which might be what you are wanting. Please confirm for me since I have you button on my site.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I emailed you about donating three months advertising on Beauty4Moms.blogspot.com and a $50 Mary Kay gift certificate. Let me know what I need to do to get this started.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny - I emailed you yesterday about donating my entire catalogue of knitting patterns. I'm sure you're insanely busy running all of this right now, but I hadn't heard back and wanted to double check that it did actually get to you. Thanks! theresa{at}littleturtleknits{dot}com
