    Bresma Orphanages

    **********updated saturday jan 16th**************
I received this email from Tara Livesay, some missionairies in Haiti who have been in contact with the two American girls running this orphanage:

Tonight (Saturday) at 6pm - Troy called the two American sisters at Bresma and they told
him water had been delivered. They have his number and know how to reach him for water
if needed ... he cannot help them evaccuate or get the kids out but we do know about them
and are here to take their calls if they run into trouble

This is not a raffle, and I will probably edit/change it as I get more info....

Has anyone heard about this situation?

Two Americans run the Bresma Orphanage in Haiti, which is now in ruins.  They are charged with 120 children, and a number of them have adoptions pending.  They state in the article above:

In a text to her husband Doug, Jamie McMutrie Heckman, 30, said she and her sister, Alison, 21, were living in the orphanage's yard with the children without food or water.
"We truly can't keep babies alive ... water contaminated. This is our only hope," she texted, using a stranger's Blackberry. "I want to make sure everyone understands we can't stay in Haiti and the kids will not live if they stay. Riots will start within two days."

I don't know how to help them... does anyone have any suggestions?

    1. prayer. I know it's not tangible, but at this point, I'm not sure I know of any other way we can help from a practical standpoint. My heart breaks.

    2. I cry everytime I think of the babies over there and the moms who can't feed their babies. I have no idea except to post this everywhere so more and more people see it.

    3. I think you guys are right. I wish that there was something I could do to help them - but they need food and water and shelter. like now. That's not something that I can do, so in the meantime I will pray!

    4. There is another orphanage, I will find out the name. My church had missionaries there when the quake hit. They are all OK. I will see if I can get you the info.

    5. The orphanage they run is through ChildHope USA.

      Here is their link.

You may try to contact them and give them the info. I know that the people at the Manassaro Orphanage were OK as was their structure.

So I will pray that help comes there way.

    6. You might also try contacting http://www.showhope.org/ and see if they have any ideas or resources since they are an international orphan outreach ministry (started by Steven and Mary Beth Chapman).
